The core functions of a hospital system with almost 40% of the medical and patient care that is delivered in the hospital system is managed by nurses. Doctors account for another 20% of the workload. This additional workload on doctors and nurses can be offset by the introduction of General Duty Assistants. A trained General Duty Assistant can decrease the workload and also add value to the value chain of the healthcare delivery system by handling some of the major functions involving patient care.
