The tea plantation sector has been considered to be a major source of livelihood and employment for many in India. The plantation workers engaged in this sector can be broadly divided into three categories namely permanent, casual and self employed. The labour force includes men and women. The main tea growing regions are located in the states of Assam and West Bengal in the north; and Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the south. Given the demand for this trade a skilled workforce is likely to increase the productivity and thereby the yield. 
 
Who is a Tea Plantation Worker 

A Tea Plantation Worker is one who works in a Tea plantation on a given piece of land. He/she works under the direct monitoring by the supervisor and works based on the instructions of the supervisor. He/she carries out the ground level activities involved in a tea plantation right from nursery preparation to harvesting and storage.
