Himayat is a training-cum-placement programme for unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir
About the Project:
IL&FS Skills is implementing a special project under Skill Empowerment and Employment Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir (SEEJ&K) for employment linked skill training. Youth will be provided short-term training for at least 3 months, in a range of skills for which there is industry demand. At the end of the training, the trainees are assured of a job and there is one year post-placement tracking to see how they are faring.
Under Himayat, the training centres will be developed in all blocks of J&K State in the next 5 years. These will also act as youth resource centres and career counselling centres for trainees and youth. This will enable capabilities of the youth to be identified and will be trained and placed accordingly. Presently, there are 17 training centres in the state.
We have trained 13,740 candidates since the launch of this project with more than 75% of placement. Of the total number of students enrolled 79% were male and 21% were female. Most of the trainees trained are high school drop outs from 10th, 11th & 12th classes. Others were school graduates.
